Ketch up 1 tablespoon
Garlic powder ¼ tablespoon
Smoke paprika ¼ tablespoon
Salt ¼ tablespoon
Black pepper  1/8 tablespoon
Vegetable broth 1 tablespoon
Jalapeno slices a few


METHOD:

  1. Prep the Patty: In a small bowl, mix the ground turkey or plant-based meat with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Form into a patty about 1/2-inch thick, slightly wider than your bun (it’ll shrink a bit while cooking).

  2. Heat the Skillet: Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Let it warm for about a minute. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable broth or water to create a light steam—this keeps the patty juicy without oil.

  3. Cook the Patty: Place the patty in the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side, adding another splash of broth or water if the pan dries out. During the last minute, place the cheese slice on the patty and cover the skillet to melt it. The internal temperature for turkey should reach 165°F (74°C) if using a thermometer.

  4. Toast the Bun: While the patty cooks, lightly toast your burger bun in a toaster or oven at 350°F (175°C) for 2–3 minutes until golden. This adds a nice crunch without oil.

  5. Assemble the Burger: Spread ketchup or mustard (or both) on the bottom bun. Add the lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices. Place the cheesy patty on top, then add pickles or jalapeños if using. Top with the other bun half.
